The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is organizing Rabi and Kharif Conference on Tuesday at the National Agriculture Science Center, ICAR Pusa Complex in New Delhi. Union Minister Shri Radha Mohan Singh is scheduled to inaugurate.
The two junior ministers Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and Shri M.K. Kundariya are also going to participate. Shri Siraj Hussain, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare under whose leadership and guidance the Rabi Conference is being organized will be present through the two day sessions and will address at the inauguration.
Ashok Angurana, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairy & Fisheries and Dr. S. Ayyappan, Director General, ICAR and the Secretary, DARE will also address the august gathering and briefly apprise about the role & contribution of their organizations in agriculture and allied sectors with particular reference to improving the welfare of the farmers.
Topics identified for detailed group discussions arepromoting pulses and oilseeds in rice fallows, promoting organic farming through Paramparagat Krishi Yojana (PKVY), enhancing area under irrigation and achieving water use efficiency through Pardhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana (PMKSY).
Other issues of concern are creating a nationally integrated market through National Agricultural Market and promotion Of Horticulture in the country.
Recommendations of the groups following the discussions will be further fine tuned in consultation with the States on the second day of the conference & final outputs, shared by the department with all the concerned, read a PIB press release.
