Women directors elected in various cooperatives should have the detailed knowledge of bye-laws, cooperatives principles and their lawful rights, said National Cooperative Union of India Chairman Dr. Chandra pal Singh Yadav on the occasion of a three day program organized for women’ directors by National Center for Cooperative Education (NCCE), an educational arm of the NCUI.
Yadav said we are making all efforts to empower women in their fields of interest. Women participation will strengthen the cooperative movement and will take it to newer heights, he added. If you feel like dissenting , do dissent because you have been elected to voice your opinions, Yadav said while expounding on the democratic principles of cooperatives.
If government schemes will be operated through cooperatives then the scheme would benefit the poor.The NCCE
organizes many programmes every year. It has planned 100 programs this year, in which 20 programs are exclusively for the women, informed Dr Dinesh who was present on the occasion.
Speaking in the workshop NCUI chief executive Dr.Dinesh said that women have equal rights and they should raise their voice in the board meetings but they should have knowledge of bye-laws.
This workshop is precisely for this purpose. In this three day event women’s directors will be provided with a brief idea about their rights and duties, cooperatives principles, bye-laws, etc, he added.
NCCE Director V.K.Dubey thanked everybody but reserved special thanks for NCUI chairman Dr. Chandra Pal who came to participate on a short notice. Our President never says no to any request, Dubey added.
