Bishnupada Sethi Chairman and MD of the state run dairy cooperative Orissa Milk Producers’ Federation (Omfed) has said it is planning to work together with Amul to scale up its operations, reports IANS.

Bishnupada Sethi is quoted as saying the OMFED has already had discussions with the Gujarat cooperative and Memorandum of Understanding will soon be signed Sethi said.

As per an agreement, the surplus milk collected at the Omfed Plants will be supplied to the Amul plant in Kolkata , said Sethi.

Mr. Sethi said Amul will help Omfed improve its milk procurement and processing and marketing its products. The Gujarat dairy major will also share its knowhow with the OMFED in enhancing ice cream production at the Bhuvaneshwar dairy, Mr. Sethi added.

The Omfed procures six lakh litres of milk daily and has a huge surplus to deal with. The Odisha milk cooperative sells through 4,500 outlets across the state including 750 retail points in the capital city.
