IFFCO Managing Director Dr US Awasthi attended the OMIFCO Board meeting and tweeted to convey that after all everything is not lost yet and the company is doing well.

Dr Awasthi’s tweet read “ Attended #OMIFCO board meeting in #Muscat .Performance is satisfactory”.

Earlier he had attended the ICS Senegal board meeting and was impressed by its performance. The news of the turn-around in the struggling project has brought smiles on the face of stakeholders as people rushed to congratulate Dr Awasthi on social media for his efforts to revive the project.

But the issue of gas supply at Oman has been proving ticklish both for the government of India and the IFFCO. And against this backdrop MD’s tweet “Performance is satisfactory” has been lapped by people back home.

One of his followers tweeted to say “ @drusawasthi Sir.. I think gas supply must be a constraint for this satisfactory performance.Good luck to #OMIFCO for performing its best.”

The government of India has been exercised over the issue of Oman raising natural gas price leading to a sharp rise in the price of fertiliser imported by India under a long-term off-take agreement.

Earlier, the finance ministry had rejected a request for increasing the price of urea imported from Omifco, a joint venture of Indian and Oman firms.
