The President of the apex body NCUI, Dr Chandra pal Singh Yadav went to meet the new Secretary Mr Siraj Hussain last week. NCUI’s Chief Executive Dr Dinesh  who accompanied him said “ it was a courtesy meeting”.

Shri Siraj Hussain, a 1979 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh Cadre, assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture on 28 February 2015. He succeeds Shri Ashish Bahuguna who retired on same day.

Earlier, he also worked in Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary. Before his appointment to new assignment, he was Secretary to Ministry of Food Processing Industries. He also served as CMD of Food Corporation of India for over two years.

It was courtesy call and we restricted ourselves to exchanging the pleasantries, said Dr Dinesh. I have sought time from him as I wish to brief him about the activities NCUI and NCCT undertake along with the challenges beckoning us, Dr Dinesh added.

Underscoring the changing work-culture in the wake of the new government at the centre Dr Dinesh said that what matters now is results.  We have to assess the impact our training programmes are creating in more meaningful manner now, he added.

Lauding the Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh in whose village Dr Dinesh had recently gone to participate in Horti-Sangam , Dinesh said that here is a Minister who understands our problem. He is also the one who is not going to be happy with mere lip-services and wants results. We indeed live in challenging times, he concluded.
