Nitin Rane

I am resident of Titwala which comes under Thane district. The committee members of our housing society are functioning the society as they wish to. They stopped accepting cheque payment and no one raised objection except me. They refused to accept my cheque and levied late payment charges on me as I have not paid cash payment to them.

The second issue is I have written number of letter to them to which I have not got any reply and neither have they acknowledged the receipt of the letters.

Please suggest what I can do in the above context. Also I wish to learn the Housing Society Rules and Regulation whereby I can understand my rights and responsibility and that of a society. Can you pls help by suggesting list of books and source where I can find this?

I C Naik

Draw a cheque for entire outstanding and send by Registered AD Keeping a zerox of the Cheq and retain RPAD slip when received. Later file a complaint in to the Registrar if Society does not deposit Cheque.

Get a copy of the Bye Laws of your Society. Make a Deposit Cash of Rs 100 with an application for furnishing you a Secretary’s Certified zerox. Obtain acknowledgement thereof from the Manager/Clerk with Society Rubber Stamo. If you do not receive within one month write to the Registrar with copy of Receipt of Rs 100 by Society.
