In Balasore district in Odisha , swindle of public money through Central cooperative bank and a branch of SBI has come to light.
The police have arrested two persons including an accountant of the cooperative bank in this connection.
Scores of cheques issued by the block development office in fake names were being used to swindle money through various banks.
According to police, CCTV footage from the cooperative bank are being examined and this may greatly help them catch the criminals. Sources say, the involvement of the cooperative bank in the fraud is likely to damage the reputation of the cooperative sector in the state.
