A PACS member in the Ahiyapur area of Muzaffarpur in Bihar was murdered late Monday evening. The murder of the cooperative leader agitated local people who resorted to arson in the wake of the incident. Several vehicles were burnt.
The enraged crowds later went to the house of the so-called accused of the murder and burnt his house. Several houses in the neighborhoods were also set afire, an eyewitness narrated.
The role of the local police has come into question as they reportedly saw the arson and did nothing to check this. The motive behind the murder is not clear though police said it was investigating the matter.
