A cooperative green horn suddenly sprang from nowhere and threatened to snatch the leadership from the likes of Bijender Singh and Chandra Pal Singh. His arrival on the Nafed election scene is indicative of changing times and the old guard would find it increasingly difficult to hold their fort.
“Nobody can silence me and you are misquoting people. It is the decorum that whatever transpired in the Board meeting is not meant for public consumption, least of all the media consumption. I would tell you nothing”, is how he reacted to a query from Indian Cooperative.
The intense bargaining in the forenoon of Monday saw heated exchange between Ashok Thakur, the government nominee and the Nafed old guard. The compromise was arrived at only after Thakur was promised to be made Vice-Chairman of the agri-cooperative.
BJP sources say Ashok Thakur is a proud Rajput who is the joint coordinator of the Central Cooperative Cell in BJP. “Do not get impatient you will have enough opportunities to break news”, he told this correspondent when asked to comment on today’s proceedings.
“I would not say I silenced everyone but it is not so that I was not heard”. He said the core team of the Nafed has agreed to appoint him as the vice-chairman soon. “Wait for sometime you would get the news”, he sounded confident.
Ashok Thakur said he was working on various agenda to streamline the cooperative movement in the country. If you display patience I would give you several breaking news in times to come but if you jump the gun you would lose all future sources of news-feed, he clarified to this correspondent.
His determination reflected the BJP’S resolve to over-haul the cooperative scene in the country. Is any of the old guard listening?

The time has really come with the change of old corrupt guard. Presently cooperative platform has only meant for syphoning of money and other corrupt practices especially nccf, nafed and kribhco.Leaders are unheaded and least bothered about the concerns of the employees of the firms. They simply use means and ways to visit foreign locations using humble earnings of the federations.
The total concept of cooperative have been churned for unfair means and practices and if any beaurocrat comes for stop over he his threatened or be removed by the so called multi cooperative societies act, Perhaps the makers of this act would not have even a ray of stimulus that it can or is totally misused by it’s custodians.
