Beleaguered sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have urged the state govt to help tide them over to get out of their current financial difficulty.
They have demanded parity with cooperative sugar mills in receiving financial help from the govt. The Indian Sugar Mills Association has sent a letter to the govt detailing their problems.
Among other things, the letter says if the govt. does not take necessary steps to ease their difficulties, several of their members would stop functioning from the next season.
