NCCF suffers MD’s high-handedness

“You can quote me if you want that unless the govt and cooperators work together the future of National Consumer Cooperative Foundation lies in tatters, said Mr Vishal Singh, Vice-Chairman of NCCF to the Indian Cooperative.

Striking a conciliatory pose in the on-going fight between the Consumer Ministry Babus and Board members Vishal, the youngest Director on NCCF Board said I might have fought elections against Virendra Singh in the past but once that is over, I admit, he is our Chairman and we stand solidly behind him in this.

NCCF is caught in a nasty fight against Managing Director S K Nag’s latest proposal of surrendering the guest house in South Delhi on the ground that the NCCF cannot afford it.

“The Chairman who is Mumbai based but comes practically every week to Delhi stays in this very guest house”, the Vice Chairman Vishal said to the Indian Cooperative, “and I have my accommodation but other Directors and guest visiting Delhi have no other place to stay”.

What right has the MD got to surrender the guest house when it is a matter on which Board and Board alone can take a decision, an angry Chairman Virendra Singh asked? There is a difference between the presentation made by him before the Secretary and the proceedings recorded thereafter, he explained.

The presentation before the Secretary was done without seeking any clearance from the Board. I was not even formally invited to it. It was out of respect for the Secretary that I participated when he phoned me, an anguished Chairman said to Indian Cooperative.

In the presentation the need for having a second guest house in the NCR region was discussed but later in the proceedings the issue of surrendering the South Delhi guest house came up, added Mr. Singh.

Even though the matter is sub judice, the Managing Director S K Nag is taking unilateral decision as if no board exists. He has appointed statutory Auditors which is a prerogative of Board, said Mr Singh.

Vishal said that any proposal for surrendering guest house should be first brought to the Board. We would like to hear the arguments of the MD before taking a final call on the issue, Vishal opined.

Statement of Vice Chairman Vishal Singh on NCCF’s Guest House is totally contrary to the reality. Prior to the present Chairman Virendra Singh occupied the Chair i.e. July, 2005, the directors of NCCF, employees of NCCF those coming from outstations, other dignitaries from Cooperative sector, Govt. officials, etc were provided accommodation in GH. A register was maintained and nominal guest house charges were collected. However, slowly the guest house, virtually has been converted into Chairman’s residence and no other persons were allowed to stay. No register is also maintained. This is totally misuse of POWER by the Chairman. The Ministry is now tightening noose on the activities of the chairman, as it appears.

I agree with Moses. Infact this article should have titled as NCCF SUFFERS FROM CHAIRMAN’S HIGH HEADEDNESS rather than the current title.

Well studied by Dinesh who crowned Chairman with a new title.

The govt.order to supersede. The bord is very correct ,and good step, but what about the illegal appointments which are already made, non qualified over aged staff, the administrator is also doing same mistake , the non productive officers are engaged again , the track record of the ex staff must be verified, the appointments are contradictory to the advertisement given on the websight . So govt. will not get the expected result and the purpose will not be served . The hurry will burry the federation.
