The Kerala High Court has ordered the immediate reinstatement of the elected board of the Milma Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union, quashing the state government’s decision to dissolve it, media reports say.
A Division Bench of Justices A.K. Jayasankaran Nambiar and A.K. Preetha declared the dissolution illegal and set aside the July 25 order of the Director of Dairy Development Department, which had replaced the board with an administrative committee.
The government had cited alleged irregularities in the distribution of ghee to Sabarimala as the reason for its action.
Milma had earlier denied any lapse, maintaining that the ghee supplied met prescribed quality standards and underwent stringent checks. The court’s order followed an appeal by the Union’s president and other office-bearers.
