The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the restrictions imposed on the Irinjalakuda Town Co-operative Bank Ltd., Kerala, for another three months, until January 30, 2027.
The extension will come into effect from the close of business on October 30, 2026, and remain valid until the close of business on January 30, 2027, subject to review.
The RBI had originally issued directions to the bank on July 29, 2025, under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, for six months, up to January 30, 2026. The restrictions were subsequently extended until October 30, 2026.
In its latest directive, the central bank stated that the extension was necessary in the public interest.
However, the RBI clarified that the extension or modification of the directions should not be construed as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial position.
All other terms and conditions of the existing directions will remain unchanged.
