The National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) has stepped up efforts to promote aquaculture insurance among fish and shrimp farmers, organising an awareness programme in Kalyani, West Bengal, on Wednesday.
The one-day programme was organised in association with the Netaji Subhas Regional Institute of Cooperative Management at its premises in Nadia district, with participation from CAA-registered shrimp farmers.
The initiative focused on educating farmers about the benefits, eligibility and application procedures for aquaculture insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY).
Addressing participants, Amar Kumar Nayak, Senior Insurance Expert, NFDB, highlighted how insurance can protect farmers against unforeseen risks and strengthen their financial security. He encouraged eligible farmers to avail themselves of insurance coverage and One-Time Incentive (OTI) benefits under the scheme.
The programme featured an interactive session where farmers raised queries regarding eligibility, insurance claims and OTI benefits.
