The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, has launched a series of two-day residential training programmes to strengthen the implementation and awareness of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) among cooperative banking institutions.
Being organised from September 28 to November 2026, the programmes are aimed at State Cooperative Banks (StCBs), District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across 11 States and Union Territories.
The initiative seeks to develop a pool of master trainers while building the capacity of 2,500 participants to improve awareness, outreach and effective implementation of the crop insurance scheme.
The training programmes are being conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperation as part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve the delivery of farmer-centric schemes through the cooperative credit network.
By engaging cooperative banks and PACS, the initiative aims to equip grassroots-level institutions with better knowledge of PMFBY, enabling them to play a more effective role in extending the scheme’s benefits to farmers.
