In a major push to strengthen the cybersecurity infrastructure of the cooperative banking sector, the Bihar Cabinet has approved a grant of Rs 66.11 crore to the Bihar State Cooperative Bank, Patna, for establishing Cyber Security Operations Centres (CSOCs) at the state cooperative bank and all District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) across the state.
The initiative aims to enhance the digital security framework of cooperative banks and protect their banking operations against increasing cyber threats, including potential digital frauds and security breaches.
Under the approved arrangement, the CSOCs will serve as dedicated centres for monitoring, detecting and responding to cyber threats, thereby strengthening the banks’ ability to safeguard sensitive financial and customer data.
The decision assumes significance as cooperative banks are increasingly adopting digital banking services and technology-driven operations. Strengthening their cybersecurity infrastructure is expected to improve the safety and reliability of digital transactions while boosting customer confidence.
The move marks an important step towards building a more secure and resilient cooperative banking ecosystem in Bihar.
