As many as 55,514 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are now delivering more than 300 digital services to rural communities as Common Service Centres (CSCs), the Ministry of Cooperation said in a social media post.
The services being provided through PACS include banking, insurance, Aadhaar-related services, healthcare, PAN-related facilities and ticket booking, among others.
The initiative is aimed at taking essential digital services closer to people in villages while strengthening the role of PACS as grassroots-level service delivery centres.
The Ministry highlighted the expansion as an example of how cooperative institutions are contributing to digital empowerment and facilitating access to a wide range of services in rural areas.
The development is part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise PACS and expand their role as multipurpose institutions serving rural communities.
