The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has ordered the winding up of Viswadeepthi Multi State Agri Cooperative Society Ltd., Tamil Nadu, under Section 86 of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, citing continued non-payment of matured deposits and failure to comply with official directions.
The order, issued in September 2026, also appointed the Cooperative Sub Registrar/Liquidation Officer, Coimbatore District Central Co-operative Bank as liquidator under Section 89(1) of the Act.
The action follows complaints filed by members regarding non-payment of deposits. The Cooperative Ombudsman, in an order dated 5 May 2025, had directed the society to repay matured deposits along with interest. However, the society failed to comply, according to the CRCS order.
An NCDC inspection conducted in August 2025 reportedly found that the society was not operating at its registered address, with no signboard or identifiable marking found there.
Despite being given opportunities to respond and present a revival plan, the society failed to furnish the required compliance report.
The liquidator has been directed to submit quarterly progress reports to the CRCS.
