Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday met the newly elected chairpersons of several District Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) at the Secretariat and called upon them to strengthen the cooperative banking system with transparency and a strong focus on public interest.
Congratulating the new office-bearers, Dhami said cooperatives have a vital role in strengthening the rural economy of the state. He highlighted the importance of DCCBs in expanding banking access among farmers, rural communities, women and youth, besides supporting self-employment and local economic activities.
The Chief Minister urged the newly elected chairpersons to work towards making cooperatives more effective and people-centric, while maintaining transparency in their functioning.
Those who met the Chief Minister included Manjeet Rawat, Chairman, Dehradun DCCB; Gajendra Singh Rawat, Chairman, Chamoli DCCB; Pankaj Rawat, Chairman, Garhwal DCCB, Kotdwar; Subhash Chand Ramola, Chairman, Tehri Garhwal DCCB; and Bijendra Singh Chaudhary, Chairman, Haridwar DCCB.
