The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the period of its Directions on The Amanath Co-operative Bank Ltd., Bengaluru for another three months, citing public interest.
The extension will remain effective from the close of business on September 12, 2026, to the close of business on December 12, 2026, subject to review.
The RBI had initially issued the Directions to the bank on June 12, 2024, under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The central bank said it was satisfied that extending the Directions beyond September 12, 2026 was necessary in the public interest.
Importantly, the RBI clarified that the extension or modification of the Directions should not, by itself, be construed as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial position.
All other terms and conditions of the Directions will remain unchanged.
