The District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) in Uttarakhand have entered election mode, with the process for electing their boards gaining momentum across the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.
While nominations are underway in some districts, directors are already being elected unopposed in several wards, indicating the BJP’s strong position in the cooperative sector.
In Haridwar, former Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Swami Yatishwaranand met the directors elected unopposed to the Haridwar District Cooperative Bank at Ved Mandir Ashram.
In Chamoli, BJP-supported candidates reportedly filed nominations for the election of members of the District Cooperative Bank’s management committee, with candidates in all wards submitting unopposed nominations.
The BJP has also made significant gains in Tehri Garhwal DCCB, where directors from 12 of the 13 wards, excluding Jakholi, have been elected unopposed. All the elected directors are BJP-supported, strengthening the party’s prospects in the election for Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
In Uttarkashi, Balbir Singh Chauhan and Ramita Rana were elected unopposed as directors from Naugaon block.
