The Coop Connect Division of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) organised a study visit to the Mother Dairy plant at Patparganj, New Delhi, on August 17, introducing school students to the functioning of the cooperative movement and a modern dairy enterprise.
The visit was organised for 37 students and two faculty members, Shikha Rattan and Taruna Bahl, from Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura. They were accompanied by NCUI Deputy Director Anant Dubey and Naveen Singh.
During an interactive session, Mother Dairy Senior Superintendent Renu Kumar Ravindran Pillai explained the processes involved in milk processing, packaging and production of milk and milk products. The students subsequently toured the plant and witnessed live operations, including milk processing, packaging and ice-cream production.
NCUI said the initiative seeks to familiarise young minds with cooperative principles and encourage values of cooperation, self-reliance and collective growth. The programme also offered students first-hand exposure to how a successful cooperative enterprise operates.
