The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), in collaboration with the Gujarat State Co-operative Credit Societies Federation Ltd., organised a webinar on “Technology-Enabled Lending: Understanding the Lending Technology Stack”, aimed at helping cooperative credit societies strengthen their lending operations through technology.
More than 100 representatives from cooperative credit societies participated in the programme, which focused on the growing importance of technology in improving credit delivery, internal controls, risk management and member-centric services.
Ghanshyambhai H. Amin, Chairman of the Gujarat State Co-operative Credit Societies Federation Ltd. and a General Council member of NCUI, was the chief guest. Addressing the participants, Amin underlined the need for cooperative credit societies to embrace technology, professional management and institutional strengthening to remain competitive and expand their role in the financial ecosystem.
Rajeev Sharma, Executive Director, NCUI, set the context for the programme by highlighting the relevance of the National Cooperative Policy, 2025. He emphasised its vision of building stronger, professional, efficient and technology-enabled cooperatives capable of responding effectively to emerging economic and financial challenges.
The keynote presentation provided participants with practical insights into the lending technology stack and explained how technology can transform different stages of the lending process. The discussion covered its potential to improve operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls, enhance risk management and facilitate faster and more member-focused service delivery.
For cooperative credit societies, the shift towards technology-enabled lending is increasingly significant as members expect quicker, more transparent and convenient financial services. Technology can also help institutions improve monitoring, streamline workflows and strengthen decision-making while reducing operational risks.
The webinar also provided an interactive platform for participants to understand the opportunities, challenges and practical considerations involved in adopting technology for lending operations. The exchange enabled representatives to examine how digital tools can be integrated into their existing systems while supporting institutional strengthening.
The session was moderated by Anurag, Deputy Director, NCUI. The programme underlined the growing emphasis within the cooperative movement on combining technology with professional management and sound institutional practices to build a more efficient and competitive cooperative credit sector.
