Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has set an ambitious target of taking the cooperative movement to every village in Rajasthan, saying the State’s 44,000 cooperative societies must become instruments of wider rural prosperity. Speaking in Alwar, Shah said the government’s objective was to ensure that no village remained untouched by cooperatives.

The expansion will also receive support from rural storage infrastructure. Shah said 50 new warehouses are scheduled to be constructed during 2026–27, while 62 warehouses with 100-tonne capacity and 100 warehouses with 500-tonne capacity have already been completed.

Four district cooperative banks are also being launched in Phalodi, Balotra, Didwana-Kuchaman and Pratapgarh. Farmers accessing these banks will be eligible for loans at zero per cent interest, providing an additional financial support mechanism for the agricultural economy.

Shah linked the Rajasthan initiative with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi”, saying cooperatives would be used to make villages economically stronger.

He said prosperity through cooperation would remain a key development priority.
