Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah felicitated representatives of the first six Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) successfully onboarded onto the Sahkar Core Banking Solution (CBS) at an event in Mumbai.

The onboarding marks a significant step towards modernising India’s UCB ecosystem and strengthening digital banking capabilities across the cooperative sector.

The Sahkar CBS is aimed at enabling cooperative banks to adopt modern banking technology and improve operational efficiency, service delivery and digital access for customers. The recognition of the first six UCBs highlights the growing push for technology-driven transformation in cooperative banking. The initiative is expected to support UCBs in upgrading their banking infrastructure and aligning operations with the evolving requirements of the financial sector.

The move comes as the Government continues to promote technology, transparency and efficiency under its broader vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”, with digitalisation emerging as a key pillar of cooperative banking reform.
