IFFCO Managing Director K J Patel has stressed that sustainable agricultural development requires more than higher production, calling for a balanced approach centred on soil health, efficient resource use, farmer collectives and an inclusive rural economy.

He said cooperatives can provide farmers a strong platform for collective action, enabling better procurement, scientific farm advice, balanced fertilizer use, water and soil conservation and improved market access.

Patel highlighted soil fertility as one of agriculture’s biggest priorities and advocated balanced use of chemical fertilizers alongside organic matter, micronutrients, crop diversification and regular soil testing.

He said cooperative institutions can play a vital role in taking scientific, soil-health-based information and modern farming techniques to farmers. Highlighting IFFCO’s nano fertilizers, particularly Nano Urea and Nano DAP, Patel said they can improve fertilizer-use efficiency, support targeted nutrient application and encourage judicious use of conventional fertilizers, contributing to lower costs and better resource efficiency.
