A delegation of the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation (NCCF) met the Madhya Pradesh Minister for Cooperation, Sports and Youth Welfare at the Secretariat in Bhopal to discuss measures for strengthening the cooperative sector and empowering farmers.
The discussions focused on the implementation of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Scheme through cooperatives and the need to expand storage infrastructure across the state. The delegation highlighted the importance of creating adequate and decentralised grain storage capacity to help farmers store their produce closer to their farms and reduce post-harvest losses.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen the role of cooperatives in developing storage facilities and improving farmers’ access to markets. Greater storage capacity is expected to provide farmers with more flexibility in selling their produce and contribute to better price realisation.
The NCCF delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting cooperative-led initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural infrastructure and promoting farmer welfare in Madhya Pradesh.
