The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Himanshu Das, former Managing Director of Betnoti Large-sized Adivasi Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (LAMPCS) Ltd in Mayurbhanj district, for allegedly misappropriating Rs 40.94 lakh collected from farmers, media reports say.
The case relates to alleged financial irregularities during the 2017-18 financial year. Vigilance officials said Das collected loan repayments, share capital contributions, application fees and administrative charges from farmers, issued official receipts, but allegedly failed to deposit the money into the cooperative society’s account.
Instead, he reportedly omitted the transactions from official records and diverted Rs 40,94,306 for personal use. He was produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada, following his arrest.
