Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has disbursed Rs 9,751 crore to women cooperatives across the country during the last five financial years to strengthen women-led cooperative enterprises.
Replying to a question in the House, Shah said NCDC is implementing several dedicated schemes, including Swayam Shakti Sahakar Yojana, Nandini Sahakar Scheme and Yuva Sahakar Yojana, to promote women-led and SHG-linked cooperatives through financial assistance, entrepreneurship development and capacity building.
He said the Yuva Sahakar Yojana offers a 2% interest subvention on term loans, while women-led cooperatives are required to contribute only 20% of the project cost.
The Minister informed that NCDC provides working capital loans for 1-2 years, margin money assistance for five years, and term loans for eight years. Cooperatives seeking direct funding must have been operational for at least three years with a positive net worth, while those operating for a minimum of three months are also eligible under the Yuva Sahakar scheme.
According to the data shared in the Rajya Sabha, Andhra Pradesh received the highest assistance at Rs 4,200 crore during 2025-26, followed by Telangana with Rs 500 crore.
