Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that Bharat Taxi, the cooperative-led digital mobility platform operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, has onboarded 7.97 lakh driver-partners (Sarathis) across the country as of July 19, 2026.
Replying to a question in the House, Shah said the platform has been officially launched in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Of the total Sarathis, 2.55 lakh are in Delhi-NCR, 1.01 lakh in Gujarat and 71,095 in Maharashtra.
The Minister said the rollout of Bharat Taxi to other states and cities will depend on operational preparedness, statutory approvals, availability of Sarathis and coordination with state governments, cooperative institutions and other stakeholders.
Highlighting the platform’s unique model, Shah said Bharat Taxi operates on a zero-commission basis, ensuring that no commission is deducted from drivers’ fares. Instead, a nominal subscription fee is charged separately to cover technology, maintenance and expansion costs.
