BJP MLC and Chairman of the Mumbai District Central Cooperative Bank (MDCCB), Pravin Darekar, visited the state-of-the-art Sonai Dudh Dairy & Milk Products Ltd. at Indapur in Pune district, praising its contribution to Maharashtra’s cooperative dairy sector and rural economy.
Sharing details of the visit on X (formerly Twitter), Darekar described Sonai Dairy as one of Asia’s largest dairy processing facilities, noting that it has emerged as a benchmark in the dairy industry since its establishment in 2002 under the vision of Dashrath (Dada) Mane.
He said the dairy currently processes over 5 million litres of milk per day, playing a significant role in strengthening the state’s dairy value chain and providing opportunities for milk producers.
During the visit, Dashrath (Dada) Mane, Pravin Mane, and Kiran Mane briefed Darekar on the plant’s advanced technology, quality control systems and various dairy business initiatives.
Darekar said such cooperative-led dairy projects are vital for empowering farmers, boosting rural livelihoods and reinforcing the cooperative movement, adding that they form a strong foundation for Maharashtra’s economic development.
