IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi visited Dehradun the capital of Uttarakhand where Pramod Kumar Singh one of IFFCO’s directors and several other cooperators were present to welcome him.
Pramod Kumar Singh who presided over the function- organized to welcome the MD, went effusive and urged the Govt of India to confer Padam Bhushan Award on Dr U S Awasthi. He said he would write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard – a statement that was enthusiastically supported by the crowd on the occasion.
Those monitoring IFFCO’s activities under the leadership of Dr Awasthi had earlier also raised the demand of Padma Bhushan for Dr U S Awasthi. “I do not say there are not others but indeed there are just a handful of them today in the country who are so concerned with the welfare of the farmers”, Pramod said later to this correspondent.
During his visit to Dehradun, IFFCO MD also went to the Forest Research Institute(FRI) and was impressed by the work done by the institute and said farmers will get high-yielding varieties of neem tree sooner than later.
Readers would know that IFFCO had signed a MoU with Forest Research Institute (FRI) under which, FRI will come up with fast-growing and high-yielding varieties of neem trees that will be utilized to meet the requirement to produce 100 per cent neem-coated urea.
IFFCO’s Director and Dehradun resident Pramod Kumar Singh had signed the MoU and had also handed over a cheque of Rs 21 lakh to FRI as the first installment. IFFCO will pay Rs 93 lakh to FRI for this three-year project.
Awasthi was visibly impressed by the work done by FRI so far. Sharing the information on social media, he wrote “Saw the development in Neem polyplading by Forest Research Institute in Dehradhun during the kisan yatra”.
In his address, Awasthi also talked about the objective of his tour on the occasion of golden jubilee. Besides other things, he said excessive use of urea harms soil.
