The Central Office Bearers and Unit Presidents/Secretaries of the Cooperative Bank Employees Union (CBEU), Uttar Pradesh, held a virtual meeting last week to discuss the long-pending wage revision and other unresolved demands of employees working in District Cooperative Banks across the state.
Following detailed deliberations, union leaders unanimously decided to launch an agitation programme and stage a protest demonstration at the office of the Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Lucknow. The phased movement is scheduled to begin from June 14.
The union expressed concern over the delay in implementing wage revision and addressing employees’ pending demands.
It urged the Uttar Pradesh Government and cooperative department officials to consider the issues sympathetically and take timely action to avoid escalation of the agitation.
Union leaders said the proposed movement could be withdrawn if the employees’ legitimate demands are addressed promptly. Representatives from various district units, including Muzaffarnagar, participated in the meeting and extended their support to the proposed agitation programme.
