SICUN Board reviews Expansion, Co-op Conference

The 67th Board Meeting of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) was held at Assam Lingzey under the chairmanship of Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, with board members, government nominees and representatives from key cooperative institutions participating in the deliberations.

The Board reviewed the Action Taken Report of the previous meeting and assessed the performance of SICUN’s Training & Capacity Building, Cooperative Development, Social Media & Digital Communication, Hostel & Hospitality, and Business & Marketing divisions.

The meeting approved the audited accounts, financial statements and projected budget for the financial year 2026–27. The Board also cleared the nomination of delegates for participation and contesting in the Governing Council election of the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), New Delhi.

Among major decisions, the Board approved maintenance and accessibility enhancement works, including sports and Divyang-friendly facilities at SICUN, following programme affiliation granted by Tribhuvan Sahakari University. The appointment of Dr. Mohan Kumar Mishra as Honorary Advisor of SICUN was also approved.

Preparations for the proposed Cooperative Conference scheduled for June 30, 2026, were reviewed with emphasis on broad participation and effective coordination. The Board further discussed strengthening the SICUN Business Outlet at Marchak, preparations for the SKOCH Award final presentation, amendments to the HR policy and urgent repair works at the SICUN Hostel Block.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Rai appreciated the efforts of the Board and staff in strengthening the cooperative movement in Sikkim and stressed continued innovation and institutional development across the sector.
