This year’s Co-operative Week celebrations are going to be a lackluster show as most of the cooperators have gone away to Malaysia to attend International Co-operative Alliance’s Global Conference and General Assembly. As the event at home clashes with their visit abroad, they would not be able to attend the former.
“What can we do we are helpless”, said NCUI President. Indian Cooperatives have to move in tandem with the world cooperatives and as ICA General Assembly is taking place we cannot afford to miss it, he added.
More than 100 cooperators drawing from all major cooperatives of the country are in Kualalampur. There is an added excitement as this Assembly would also elect a new ICA Board. Aditya Yadav of IFFCO is a lone contestant from India.
NCUI President however added that on 20th November when the cooperators are back from Malaysia, a mega closing event would be organized at the NCUI auditorium.
Meanwhile, NCUI has issued guidelines for the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebrations. The theme this time is “Empowering People through Digitalization of Cooperatives”.
NCUI organizes every year Cooperative Week celebrations from 14 to 20 November. The objective of the weeklong celebrations is to highlight the achievements of the cooperative movement and chalk out future strategies. This year the 64th All India Cooperative Week will be organized from 14th till 20th November, 2017, reads a NCUI release.
During the cooperative week celebrations, initiatives like Digital awareness campaigns, Demonstration of digital transaction using mobile, internet, app base, SMS based, e-wallet, UPI, Aadhar based payment, micro ATM, etc have been planned.
