Madurai: IFFCO team arrives at heart of Tamil culture

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi and his team reached Madurai- a historical city which is seen as the fountainhead of Tamil culture. Located on the banks of River Vaigai, Madurai is famous for scholars’ congregations in the books of history. Madurai is Awasthi’s 83rd destination in the farmers’ connect campaign.

But before moving on to the new destinations after Kanyakumari, IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi and his team went first to Rameshwaram to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. MD prayed for the success of IFFCO and for the welfare of farmers, as he wrote in his tweets. He also donated Rs 5 lac to the temple trust.

In Triunelveli- his 82nd destination- Awasthi was greeted by a huge turnout of farmers-cooperators who had come from remote villages to see a man who has resolved to awaken their community. An overwhelmed Awasthi tweeted “ I am glad to get the love & affection of #farmers today in #Triunelveli. More than 1500 farmers attended & celebrated #50yearsofIFFCO.”

After he was through with meeting each of the farmer one on one IFFCO MD addressed them explaining the purpose of his visit. He said “you are soul of IFFCO and its growth is co-terminus with your growth”. He exhorted them to keep pace with the rising India through technology. His tweet on the issue read “It was great to address the farmers & cooperators at #Triunelveli. #IFFCO is soul of every farmer. It’s all support & trust of farmers.”

On this occasion Manish Gupta, Director-JV & Strategy also addressed the farmers and shared his views on new ventures and product range. Gupta is the CEO of IFFCO Bazar-the latest venture of IFFCO.

Cooperators of the area were also thrilled to find the top management of IFFCO amidst themselves. They congratulated IFFCO on completing its glorious 50 years of service to the farmers.

MD was also greeted by a large number of women participants in Triunelveli. Committed to encouraging women in cooperatives Awasthi was more than happy. He said IFFCO always promotes women cooperatives.

The occasion was marked by cultural programmes and health checkups. IFFCO MD laid the foundation stone and visited the factory of Sagarika- a new product of IFFCO at Manamadurai in Tamil Nadu.
