Karnataka based Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union’s (DKMUL) stalls at the 4th Krishi Yantra Mela 2019 at Puttur city in Kannada district displaying several of its products are a runway success given the attraction they have exercised over visitors. The Union sells the products under the brand ‘Nandini’.

It bears recall that the Krishi Yantra Mela 2019 is being jointly organized by Campco, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology and DKMUL. The Mela was supposed to be inaugurated by P P Chaudhary, Union minister of state for law and justice but he could not due to his last minute engagement. The event was inaugurated by the local MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

The Krishi Yantra Mela, had 266 stalls in which 154 stalls related to agriculture machinery and dairy farming, 83 stalls related to dream home.

“We have set up two stalls in the three day Krishi Yantra Mela, one consisting of the activities of Milk Union and the other for selling our products. A large number of visitors came to our stalls”, said Dr. B. V. Sathyanarayana, MD, DKMUL on the phone to this correspondent.

Giving his reaction, Raviraja Hegde, President, DKMUL said, “The main objective of the event is to educate the farmers about the new technology and offer useful information to the entrepreneur students. Through the stalls we are showcasing our products as well as our schemes which could be useful for farmers. Our stalls are also useful for the people living in urban areas”, he added.

“This is the first time that we are participating but the response from the visitors is extremely positive. Our products include Butter Milk, Cashew Burfi, Flavored Milk, Zeera Butter Milk, Mysore Pak and others”, Hegde noted.

Hegde said the DKMUL purposes to modernize its cold storage unit at Puttur at a cost of Rs 12 crore and also its camp office at a cost of Rs 5 crore next year.

DKMUL is procuring 4.5 Lakh liter milk per day and has an area of operation in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. The business mix of the union is over 820 crore and earned a net profit of Rs 7 crore in the last financial year.
